What to expect: Learn about and taste sparkling wines.
If you are looking for something slightly different to round out a wine tour itinerary when visiting Napa Valley, consider a visit to Chandon, a sparkling wine winery. Established in 1973 by the champagne house Moet & Chandon of Epernay, France, this is the place to enjoy some champs and learn about the birth of the bubbles while visiting Napa Valley.
Chandon offers two tours daily where you can learn about the history and winemaking process of their distinctive wines. The morning tour, the Etoile Prestige Tour and Tasting, starts at 10:30AM and is the best option for anyone interested in tasting Chandon’s most prestigious wines. On this tour, you will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of the winery and will learn about Chandon’s Etoile wines, the best sparkling wine produced by Domaine Chandon. I can’t think of a better way to get your day started in Napa Valley.
Chandon’s other daily tour, the Vintage Tour and Tasting, is offered in the late afternoon at 3:00PM. This tour highlights Chandon’s winery-exclusive vintage sparkling wines, followed by a seated tasting. During the tasting, you will sample three of their sparkling wines from the Vintage Appellation Series: Yountville Vintage Brut, Carneros Vintage Brut, and Mt. Veeder Vintage Brut.
If you’re simply looking for a tasting without the tour, you can visit their Tasting Lounge that offers a jovial environment with the melodic sound of popping corks filling the air. The Tasting Lounge offers tastings daily from 10AM – 4:30PM. There is seating in the lounge or on the terrace area, making it very tempting to stick around to enjoy bottle service rather than stand at the bar for a single tasting.
Many visitors stop by Chandon at the end of their day to enjoy some sparkling wine. Everyone is in a good mood after a day of sipping wine in the Napa Valley and now relaxing with a bottle of bubbly as they chat with new friends. If you can’t work Chandon into your itinerary for a tour, definitely make sure to stop here at the end of your day.
