During my visit to the resort town of Zakopane in Southern Poland, I had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful and conveniently located Aries Hotel & Spa. An attractive hotel built in the Zakopane style with dark wood, light stone and a steep sloping roof, it is located just two blocks from the main pedestrian street.
A warm welcome awaits you
Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome from the friendly front desk staff. As I sat in a comfy chair while my paperwork was processed, I indulged on the delicious caramel candies that were piled into a wooden basket on the desk next to me. As if my welcome couldn’t get any better, I was then informed that my room was ready. There’s nothing like an early check in (11:30 AM) to put me in a good mood, although I was already in one thanks to my sugar high.
The upscale décor, which boasts the inviting architecture of the area, exudes the warmth of a luxurious mountain lodge. From candles burning in large lanterns against the walls to big plush tobacco colored leather couches situated under large chandeliers, the lobby is a great example of cozy luxury.
The entire hotel boosts a luxurious yet cozy atmosphere
As I made my way to my guest room, I was in awe of the attention to detail that had gone into the décor of the Aries Hotel and was pleased to see that it was not restricted to the lobby. I first encountered the lounge, a small bar with comfortable seating arrangements located right next to the elevators. After one glance of the dark wooden floors and tables, the black plush leather seating, and the fireplace all set against bright white walls with chalkboards listing the recommended wines and lite bites, I knew where I was spending Happy Hour later that day.
Enjoy a relaxing evening back at the hotel
After exploring Zakopane on a chilly autumn day, by the time the sun went down, I was ready to warm up by the fire with a glass of wine. Thanks to its convenient location, just two blocks off of the popular Krupowki pedestrian street, it was a short walk back to that inviting lounge off the hotel lobby. In no time, I was chatting with the friendly bartender and enjoying a surprisingly delicious glass of Polish wine. It was so nice and relaxing to be back at the hotel that I decided to just stay there for the rest of the night.
The hotel has an onsite restaurant and like everything else with the Hotel Aries, it did not disappoint. The restaurant was not crowded, with us being the only patrons besides another couple, so our waiter, Pawel, had time to talk with us. He made some great recommendations from the menu and shared his knowledge about Polish wine with us, introducing us to another delicious wine from northwestern Poland’s small wine country.
A good night’s sleep will be had
Beautifully designed and decorated with high ceilings, a chandelier, faux fur blankets and a large flat screen TV, the guest room is everything you could possibly want or need for a good night’s sleep. Best of all, the large bathroom had a separate heater, so I was able to keep the main room comfortably cool so I could wrap myself up in that faux fur blanket, while keeping the bathroom toasty warm.
Don’t skip breakfast; be sure to hit the delicious buffet
The breakfast buffet is definitely one not to be missed. Not only did the hotel offer the traditional breakfast items, they had a whole section devoted to local delicacies. I was thrilled to see a selection of highlander cheeses with cranberry sauce as well as other Polish favorites like stuffed eggs (a/k/a deviled eggs), and kielbasa. Although these are not the typical foods that I would eat for breakfast, while in Poland, they are a must-try regardless of the time of day.
My recommended hotel when visiting Zakopane
The Aries Hotel is the perfect place to stay while visiting Zakopane. It delivers upscale delights for the vacationer while keeping the atmosphere perfectly cozy. With a lounge, nightclub, spa, pool, gym, shops and restaurant available onsite, you’ll have everything you’ll need to make a great vacation without ever having to leave the hotel. However, with its convenient location just two blocks from the main pedestrian street, you can easily do some sightseeing and shopping in Zakopane without having to venture too far from the hotel. Just be sure to add some “hotel time” into your itinerary to enjoy all the Aries Hotel & Spa has to offer while you are visiting this resort town.
